SoCal Removal prepared and finished an exterior wall surface at Santa Ana Council Chambers for use as a projection screen. The project supported outdoor display of council meetings by adapting an existing wall for that purpose.

About the civic property

Santa Ana’s Council Chambers is part of the city’s Civic Center setting, where public meetings bring residents and city representatives together. The city’s published meeting records identify the chambers at Civic Center Plaza. City Council meeting record.

For this assignment, the construction work focused on the exterior projection surface associated with that public-meeting space.

Turning an existing wall into a projection surface

The project sequence included removal of the existing paint, preparation for a smoother finish and surface patching for the new projection coating. The invoice identifies sack-and-patch work and paint application for the exterior screen surface.

Those tasks address the wall itself: surface irregularities and existing coatings need to be considered before the intended finish is applied.

Silica dust control during surface preparation

The crew used a diamond-blade rotary grinder connected to HEPA dust-control equipment to capture dust at the source during concrete-wall preparation. The photographs show the elevated work position, connected dust-control equipment and separation around the work area. Dust collection was integrated into the grinding operation as the wall was prepared for patching and the projection finish.

A focused civic improvement

The photographs and project video document the preparation and finished-use context. Together, they show how a modest building improvement can support a specific public-facing function.
