What the work involves

Most jobs fall into a few categories: interior demolition and gut-outs in occupied commercial and campus buildings, selective demolition ahead of renovation, full structure removal, concrete and asphalt removal, and debris loading and hauling. Hazardous substance removal is performed by trained technicians under SoCal Removal’s CSLB HAZ certification. Projects range from a single room in a home to a public agency building, and many are scheduled at night or on weekends so the building can stay open.

Positions we hire for

Demolition technician. Hand and power-tool demolition, loading, floor and wall protection, and daily cleanup. Prior demolition or construction experience preferred.

Hazardous materials technician. Removal work under SoCal Removal’s HAZ certification, including containment, PPE and waste documentation. Prior hazardous materials or abatement training is a plus.

Laborer, entry level. For dependable people new to the trades. Training happens on the job, alongside experienced crew members.

Growing with us

Advancement at SoCal Removal is based on merit: the skills you build, how safely you work, and how reliably you show up. Entry-level laborers who learn the trade move up to demolition technician or hazardous materials technician pay and to lead roles on the crew. Training happens on the job, alongside experienced crew members.

Pay and schedule

Positions are hourly. Starting pay on private work:

  • Laborer, entry level: $30–$35 per hour
  • Demolition technician: $35–$40 per hour
  • Hazardous materials technician: $40–$46 per hour

Where you start in the range depends on experience and training. Public works projects are paid the California prevailing wage for the classification, with certified payroll. Work is project-based, so hours follow the job schedule and can include early starts, nights and weekends.

What we look for

People who show up on time, follow safety rules and PPE requirements every shift, keep the work area clean and organized, and can handle physical work outdoors in Southern California heat. Jobs are spread across Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties, so reliable transportation to the jobsite helps.
