SoCal Removal removed an old freezer shed and overhead metal awning at Fillmore Fish Hatchery in Ventura County. The assignment also required arranging specialized removal of animal remains stored in the failed freezer before dismantling the enclosure and clearing miscellaneous debris.
The failed freezer created a demanding cleanup assignment because of the condition and odor of its contents. Planning the contents-removal service before equipment demolition helped organize the work around that existing condition.
About Fillmore Fish Hatchery
Located beside the Santa Clara River, the state hatchery was dedicated in 1942. Its history includes the transition from earthen ponds to concrete rearing facilities. The hatchery raises trout for Southern California waters, giving the property a longstanding role in the region’s fisheries program. California Department of Fish and Wildlife history.
The freezer-removal assignment concerned a support area of that facility. It was a distinct maintenance and demolition project within a larger state property.
Separating contents from building debris
The project required two different handling paths. The stored animal remains were to be removed and professionally incinerated through the specialized service arranged for that purpose. The old freezer shed, metal awning and ordinary demolition debris formed a separate removal and hauling scope.
Keeping those activities distinct was central to the assignment. The project also included cleanup of miscellaneous debris and tires around the work area.
Removing the enclosure
The photographs show the freezer structure, equipment demolition and the cleared footprint. The existing concrete surface remained outside the removal scope. The final project invoice identifies the work under the hatchery’s demolition assignment.
For commercial or institutional properties with obsolete support structures, SoCal Removal can review the building, contents and waste-handling needs before developing a scope. Providing an inventory and access photographs early helps identify specialist services and plan the order of work.
