Selective interior removal at a Corona del Mar residence was performed by SoCal Removal’s Cal/OSHA DOSH-registered abatement subcontractor as part of a renovation. The work addressed designated asbestos-containing drywall and joint-compound materials in two interior areas, with the existing framing retained.

Removing finishes within defined limits

The scope focused on interior modifications rather than removal of the entire house. The signed work agreement identified the affected areas and expressly kept the framing in place.

That boundary was important to the renovation plan. It separated the material-removal stage from any later framing changes or reconstruction.

Opening the existing assemblies

The photographs show the designated wall finishes being removed and the framing exposed beneath them. With the finish layers opened, the remaining assembly was visible to the project team.

The scope also distinguished work assigned to other trades, including carpet removal. Identifying those responsibilities helps avoid gaps between the abatement assignment and the broader renovation.

A selective demolition handoff

This project demonstrates how a carefully defined removal scope can support changes to an existing interior. The retained framing and surrounding features remain part of the next construction decision, while the designated materials are addressed through the assigned removal work.
