A planned renovation at this Santa Ana residence required removal of asbestos-containing sheet flooring and associated mastic. SoCal Removal’s Cal/OSHA DOSH-registered abatement subcontractor performed a defined abatement scope so the designated flooring could be addressed before subsequent interior work.

The adhesive-removal stage required detailed hand work. Andre’s project recollection identifies a soy-based mastic-removal product among the materials used to address the bonded residue. Product selection and the agreed substrate condition were part of that specific assignment.

Sheet flooring and adhesive need to be considered together when planning a removal. Taking away the visible floor finish does not, by itself, describe what will happen to the material beneath it. The project was documented as a flooring-and-mastic assignment, with the removal limits tied to the work area.

Separating abatement from finish installation

The project work order assigned the regulated removal to an abatement subcontractor. That sequencing gave the renovation team a separate scope to complete before introducing replacement flooring or other finishes.

The gallery shows the existing floor conditions and portions of the removal work. Photographs are useful for understanding access and the appearance of the work area; project records establish the material identification and authorized removal boundaries.

Defining the handoff

A useful flooring scope identifies the rooms, floor layers and adhesive treatment, along with the condition expected at handoff. Replacement finishes may require additional substrate preparation. Those details should be agreed with the next trade so removal and installation responsibilities are clear.

The assignment connected designated flooring removal to the owner’s renovation plan. A clear boundary between abatement and replacement flooring helped establish the next trade’s responsibilities.
